Through the handle shaft for ultimate strength. Highly recommended.

Very strong tool. The best is that the shaft goes through the handle!

    Takes a beating

I honestly just wanted an awl that I could stroke without feeling like the blastic grip would explode. Having already invested in Wera tools I thought I'd grab theirs. It was incredibly cheap, incredibly sharp, and quite rugged. The tip stays super sharp even after popping holes in aluminum and concrete board siding all day.

Use this for everything from oring removal and scribing to leather punching. Solid handle.

    Decent little awl

Got this to replace a cheapo awl I bent. I like that the shaft extends through the handle. There is a different texture toward the tip, like others may have mentioned, but it doesn't bother me. I'm not used to monotone german tools.
